Like many other churches in the country, we are very concerned about the Chancellor’s totally unacceptable plans to impose VAT on alterations to listed buildings. The vast majority of listed buildings are for community and charitable uses. Our own project for the back of church community space is already challenging but by raising the cost by 20% would make it very difficult indeed, all to the detriment of the community of Woodkirk, Tingley and West Ardsley.
