Easter 2016 at St Mary’s

Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd March
7.30pm Compline – a quite reflective night prayer service for Holy Week.
Thursday 24th March
7.30pm Footwashing service. The traditional service to reflect:
14 “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. 16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”
Good Friday – 25th March
2.00pm An Hour at the Cross. A quite reflective service of prayer and music. The service concludes outside by the cross at the hour of our Lord’s death.
Easter Eve – Saturday 26th March
8.30pm Easter Eve Vigil. A service of darkness into light. The service starts outside the church door.
Easter Sunday – 27th March
10.30am Service of Light and Holy Communion for Easter. Come and join us as we celebrate the resurrection – a service of light and joy.

New Vicar Announcement
We were delighted to make the following announcement in church this morning:
The Bishop of Leeds, The Rt Revd Nicholas Baines, is pleased to announce that the Revd Sharon Wilkinson, currently serving as Curate at St Paul’s Church, Scotforth in the Diocese of Blackburn has been appointed as Vicar of St Mary’s Church, Woodkirk in the Leeds Episcopal Area in the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales.
The Licensing Service will take place at St Mary’s Church, Woodkirk on Monday 20th June 2016 at 7.30pm. Bishop Nicholas Baines will be officiating.
